Moonlight's Alex O'Loughlin Signs New Deal With CBS

James Hibberd of The Hollywood Repporter is reporting that Alex O’Loughlin is sticking with CBS and has signed a new one year contract:

“Under the one-year pact, O'Loughlin will star in a new series project for CBS that will be developed by top TV producer Mark Gordon, whose ABC Studio-based company is behind such series as ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," Lifetime's "Army Wives" and CBS' "Criminal Minds." ... Under the new deal with CBS, he also will be able to pitch theatrical projects to CBS Films.”

Moonlight NOT on CBS Fall Schedule?

I've been receiving a number of emails since last night telling me that Moonlight's chances for a Fall renewal have grown suddenly rather dim over the weekend. Sources say that Moonlight will most likely not appear on the official CBS Fall schedule and that the best hope for a pick-up comes via a 13-episode mid-season order. Along with previous news that Chip Johannessen had exited the scene, now comes news that, co-creator, Ron Koslow has been asked to leave and that Jill Blotevogel, writer, has been canned as of last week.

The main issue surrounding it's possible cancelation seems to stem from low ratings performance of the previous 3 episodes and conflicts over money/budget between CBS and WB.

More news on this dire and developing situation is being posted in the Renewal section of our forum.

Broadcast: CBS To Re-Air Moonlight Episode 12 "The Mortal Cure On April 18th

MICK DISCOVERS CORALINE'S SECRET TO BEING HUMAN AGAIN, ON A REBROADCAST OF "MOONLIGHT," FRIDAY, APRIL 18

"The Mortal Cure" - Mick's dream of becoming human again is within reach when he uncovers Coraline's secret, but the answers come with a steep price. Moonlight To Finish Season Without Show-Runner

The Hollywood Reporter has indicated that Moonlight will finish it's 4 episode run without a show-runner:

"Executive producer Joel Silver and the writing team of CBS' "Moonlight" collectively will shepherd the four additional episodes of the freshman drama as showrunner/executive producer Chip Johannessen has exited.

The vampire drama is not expected to name a new showrunner for the four-episode order but will do so if the series is picked up for a second season."

Moonlight's Show-Runner Let Go?

TV Guide's Michael Ausiello is reporting on his blog that Chip Johanessen, Moonlight's show-runner, has been fired. The entry reads:

"More backstage drama at Moonlight — and the timing couldn't be worse. I'm told that Chip Johannessen has been let go as show-runner just as the freshman drama is fighting for a second season. The search is on for a replacement.

This is the second major regime change for the cult fave; over the summer Johannessen replaced David Greenwalt, who vacated his post for health reasons.

The behind-the-scenes upheaval may explain why Moonlight was conspicuously absent from CBS' litany of renewals last week. It's unclear what impact this will have on the four post-strike episodes that the network just commissioned, which are slated to begin airing on April 11. But rest assured, when I know you'll know."

Broadcast: CBS To Put "Moonlight" Repeats On Hiatus

The February 8th, 2008 repeat broadcast of "Moonlight" may be the last we see of the series for, at least, 7 to 8 weeks. On February 15th, CBS has scheduled a Celine Dion concert special during the 9:00PM ET slot. Beginning February 22nd CBS will juggle it's Friday night line-up to make room for a 6 week hourlong run of "The Price Is Right" at 8:00PM ET. This will temporarily push "Ghost Whisperer" to the 9:00PM ET slot and "Moonlight" off the schedule.

CBS has officially stated that "Moonlight" will return to the schedule later this season.
