Thomas' new shows (he wouldn't say which one and
there are two), which he defined as a "very cool
character". Also, he is looking at doing some
leading male roles to further his career, so he
can experiment a little - especially with

Family and Friends
Dear Family, Friends and wonderful fans.
I have recently been going through a lot of mail from you guys and I wanted to take this opportunity to say a few things.
First, I would like to preface by appologizing for any late replies to mail I have been sent. I try to get to it all asap but sometimes it goes through a number of different channels before I even see it and time can slip away.
But the main reason for me writing is that I have found myself totally overwhelmed at the amount of support you have all been giving me in this time.
Its true, to have something you put your heart into taken away can be difficult, painful and sometimes confusing. In this instance all of the above. But never do you expect to receive anything like the amount of cards, letters and notes of appreciation and love that I have recently. It has been awesome!
Thank you all so very much.
Only too well do I understand the attachment so many of you had to Moonlight and to Mick, Beth, Josef and the gang but now that they have been laid to rest I can only hope you will all follow me into my next exciting adventure, whatever that may be.
We all fought so hard.
We all worked so hard.
I guess some things are simply out of our hands.
I look forward with great anticipation to giving you all the news of the next chapter in this crazy career of mine!!
And again, thanks for all the wonderful support.
Warmest regards
Alex O'loughlin. x o x”
Everyone here at MIA wishes Alex the best of luck with his continued career as he moves on to bigger and better things!
Meanwhile stay tuned for news on the Moonlight DVD Season 1 set!

Moonlight's Chances For Revival Are Dead
June/23/2008 17:28 Filed in: Off-Site
I continue to frequently receive email asking about
the chances of Moonlight's renewal/pickup by other
networks. While it has was unfortunate - but not
surprising - that the show was initially canceled,
the chances of another network picking it up were
always remote due to the financial issues involved.
The Hollywood Reporter has posted a new article today, which includes the following;
"Sorry, fans. Sources close to the show said Monday that all those last-ditch efforts to bring "Moonlight" back from its final resting place have now concluded. The sets have been dismantled. The stage is being taken over by CBS' upcoming drama "The Mentalist." The billowy shirts are packed up. It's done."
Seat42 is, also, reporting on this and has added that "The cast has been let go to pursue other projects."
Fans should not continue clinging to false hopes or allow themselves to be strung along by unsubstantiated rumors spread by others in fandom. I love the show as much as everyone else but the fat lady has sung. It's time to enjoy the episodes already produced and come to terms with the reality of the situation. Never say never, because miracles do happen, but I'd rather accept this as closure and be pleasantly surprised later than cling to false hopes and be severely disappointed.

Moonlight MRC Talks Dead? ... or not?
May/14/2008 16:48 Filed in: Renewal
Nikki at deadlinehollywooddaily.com is
reporting that, today, Media Rights Capitol / CW
officially passed on Moonlight. While the show
was offered to a number of different networks in
the hopes of a pick-up, MRC was seen as the best
hope. It is requested that you please stop
calling MRC at this point.
"UPDATE: I hear MRC now has been asked to consider Moonlight for mid-season. This is such a shot in the dark it's barely worth posting. But I'm posting nonetheless. I've also been told that CBS continues to hold an option on the star of the show, Alex O"Loughlin, and that he's in demand for other projects."
While I believe hope is a good thing, I do not believe false hope is healthy. If you wish to continue campaigning, your best bet is to keep contacting WB TV. They have the power to find other buyers, in the event someone is willing.
Tell Warner Brothers you love Moonlight and will follow it anywhere!

Alex O' Loughlin Comments On Moonlight Cancelation
May/14/2008 16:02 Filed in: Cast
Alex O'Loughlin has posted a comment on his MySpace
blog regarding the show's cancelation:
"Well, where to start....?
The decision to cancel MOONLIGHT... my MOONLIGHT... our MOONLIGHT, is
as much of a shock and gut wrenching surprise to me as it is to all of
you.
Really, I don't even know where to begin.
I sit here at my computer, still slack jawed even 24 hours after
receiving the news that my services are no longer required on the set
of this show. A show we have all come to know and love deeply, and it
hurts more than I can possibly tell you.
Since i got THE CALL I have not read anything online or otherwise, I
have not been following blogs or forums, I have not been reading the
trades or opinion polls and I have not been calling around to get
information.
"Why are you not fighting for your show?!" I hear you all scream!!
The truth is my friends, I never STOPPED fighting for it.
From the very beginning when I was told time and again that i wasn't
the man for the job, having to prove myself to everyone with tests and
screen tests, to a complete re-casting of the show, through 5
different show runners at the helm with 5 different artistic visions,
to a Writer's strike that took 5 episodes away from us...... oh how
the list goes on.
But through all of that, i am proud to say that not once did I bow
down and allow someone else to come in and do with MOONLIGHT as they
please. And along the way, if I needed a break and wanted to do that,
I don't think I could have anyway because, well, I suppose it's just
not in my nature!
This is all still so fresh for me and I am going to need a little time
to process this whole thing before i can digest what has actually
happened, let alone move on.
Honestly. I really feel lost for words.
I will say however, that never, never in my life have I experienced
first hand a level of support from a group of people like that of you
all who are reading this now, and who 'loved this show to life'
alongside me. It has been overwhelming to say the least.
I am grateful to you all.
I am extremely proud to be associated with this piece of television.
And I am so, so sorry to my very core, to lose MOONLIGHT.
All my love,
Alex O'Loughlin x"

May/14/2008 14:56 Filed in: Renewal
http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-cbscancelsmoonlight,0,6764293.story
The highlights:
"It had a very passionate fanbase, and that's a good thing," Tassler said. "We just had to make a lot of tough calls."
"We had to make a very tough decision," she adds. "I loved that vampire -- what can I tell ya?"
Also, when questioned about the likelihood of Moonlight finding a home on the CW nework, she stated "Probably not, no."

Moonlight Being Looked At By CW?
May/13/2008 21:01 Filed in: Renewal
Sources are reporting that WB Television had ordered
the Moonlight sets to be struck today, after
cancelation, but the order was abruptly delayed until
Friday. It appears there is a slim chance the show
might end up on the CW network in a Sunday slot as
programmed by Media Rights Capital.

Moonlight Canceled By CBS
May/13/2008 14:01 Filed in: Renewal
Sources today are saying that the producers of
Moonlight have received word CBS will not be picking
up the show for any additional episodes next season.
Word is that CBS was not happy with the show's
post-strike ratings performance or creative
direction. There is a slim chance that the show could
be picked up by another network but this happens only
rarely.

Moonlight NOT on CBS Fall Schedule?
May/12/2008 19:10 Filed in: Renewal
I've been receiving a number of emails since last
night telling me that Moonlight's chances for a Fall
renewal have grown suddenly rather dim over the
weekend. Sources say that Moonlight will most likely
not appear on the official CBS Fall schedule and that
the best hope for a pick-up comes via a 13-episode
mid-season order. Along with previous news that Chip
Johannessen had exited the scene, now comes news
that, co-creator, Ron Koslow has been asked to leave
and that Jill Blotevogel, writer, has been canned as
of last week.
The main issue surrounding it's possible cancelation seems to stem from low ratings performance of the previous 3 episodes and conflicts over money/budget between CBS and WB.
More news on this dire and developing situation is being posted in the Renewal section of our forum.

Moonlight Blood Drive Campaign
April/03/2008 03:48 Filed in: Renewal
From a Press Release by moonlightblooddrive.org:
Also, see: http://www.youchoose.net/campaign/moonlight_season_2
Fans of the CBS vampire detective television series Moonlight have organized a national blood drive to show their support and to celebrate the return of new episodes beginning Friday April 25th.
The freshman series has amassed a huge fan base and a cult-like following, as evidenced by winning the “Favorite New TV Drama” on The Peoples Choice Awards, and the show consistently won it’s time period.
The Official Moonlight Blood Drive is being sponsored by www.youchoose.net, which is the place for fans of TV programs to join campaigns for their favorite shows, including “save our show” campaigns.
The National Red Cross has taken an active roll in the blood drive and is acting as a liaison with all of the local Red Cross chapters nationwide. The Red Cross donation button on the www.youchoose.net pledge site will take you to where you can donate directly to the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles. We selected this Red Cross chapter to replenish funds that were depleted by the wildfires.
The Official Moonlight Blood Drive will be held at various locations nationwide April 18th through April 27th. To participate, fans should access www.youchoose.net and click on Moonlight Season 2 in the Crusades section on the main page to see the three options on how to pledge to give blood or donate money and to find the locations where blood drives are being held.
There still is a need for volunteers to help at sites already set up or to run a new blood drive sites across the nation. There are over 4000 total pledges so far. To see how simple it is to run a blood drive site go to www.moonlightblooddrive.org and click on the “volunteer” link. There are many blood drive sites already set up in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Philadelphia. Fans who need information and do not have an internet connection can call 800-335-4852 Pacific Time 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily. To respond to this press release e-mail Barbara at robes4you@aol.com .
The Official Moonlight Blood Drive t-shirt, that is sure to become a collector’s item, will be available for donors during the blood drive through www.youchoose.net. The t-shirts and other items will be available for fans to purchase, who do not participate in the blood drive, after April 27th. Go to www.moonlightblooddrive.org to find a link to a site where they are available.

More On Moonlight Renewal "Fan Campaigns"
April/02/2008 01:43 Filed in: Renewal
I've been receiving a lot of feedback from frustrated
Moonlight fans due to a potentially damaging renewal
campaign that has been pushed by various Moonlight
fan sites today. For whatever reason, this effort
seems to have been planned by a select few without
tangible input from many of Moonlight's loyal and
dedicated fans. While the organizer's hearts may have
been in the right place, I don't think sending
plastic baggies of garlic to CBS is the way to go nor
do I think all the fans should be left out of the
planning and decision making process when it comes to
renewal efforts.
I'd like to offer up our forum as a place for anyone / everyone to discuss renewal efforts, if they feel stifled elsewhere. Please join us in the forum and offer up your comments and ideas.

Moonlight Renewal Tips: Don't Send Gimicky Items To The Powers That Be
April/01/2008 14:56 Filed in: Renewal
Every time a show is deemed to be "in trouble" fans
band together, as they should, to try and let TPTB
know how much they love their favorite series. I have
always believed that a well placed snail mail letter
or postcard is the best thing that can be sent to
make your feelings known.
TV Writer, journalist, and blogger Denis McGrath has put together a great list of suggestions that fans should heed, and #1 on the list is DON'T SEND CRAP!
Here's an except (and go here for the complete list):
"1) Don't Send Crap.
It seems like a good idea, and kind of hooky -- find something that's associated with the show and send it on in in droves to "show your support." Jericho fans sent nuts, and yup, every news story about the show mentioned the damn nuts. But the nuts are beside the point. It's a bauble.
The problem is that now everybody wants to send some tchochke. And man, that's a big mistake.
So, Blood Ties fans, please, don't send pints of blood or fake fangs or anything. What you say in a letter is way more important and powerful than any hunk of junk you push through the postal system.
I have less of an opinion on other "organizing cries" like raising money for a charity or an ad or something -- though really, my humanist side says that it's always better to give to charity than try to buy an ad in Variety -- but when it comes to the crap through the mail stuff, I'm firm. It's a bad idea.
Because I've seen who it goes to.
The people who have the power to greenlight or un-cancel a show are never the people that have to deal with the cases of nuts or steel rods or Mars bars or fake vomit or whatever else gets sent by the skidload. It never gets anywhere near them. Instead, the likely outcome is that you're going to make some personal assistant or mailroom person's day absolute hell. For weeks. They get paid crap, and now they have to deal with your crap. It's not fair. They can't do anything about the show. And they're the ones who suffer.
But there's also an extra-special reason not to send crap. See, those powerless people? Even though they're powerless, they have something you don't. In whatever, small way -- they have access. The personal assistant to Susanne Daniels, President of Lifetime Networks, talks to her all day, every day. The mail gets delivered in the company each and every day.
Now when I worked at a network, occasionally, very impulsively -- someone very big would ask the "little people" what they thought of something. You know, to be populist.
What do you think they're going to say if they've spent weeks dealing with your crap?
That's right. It's only natural. It's only human. They are going to HATE YOUR SHOW. And they are going to be GLAD IT WAS CANCELED. They will not defend the show, because you have MADE THEIR LIVES HELL.
I have seen this happen with my own eyes. It's even happened to me."
So, please, if you really enjoy Moonlight and would like to see another season. Send them a nice snail mail letter or postcard. The little people will thank you for it.
...and if common sense weren't enough, take a moment to look at the outcome of the Jericho campaign. CBS received 50,000 lbs of nuts, reversed their cancelation decision and produced a second season that people quickly tuned out. I don't think CBS is going to be swayed by food items, again, any time soon.

TV Guide's Matt Roush and E's Kristin Comment On Moonlight's Future
February/23/2008 21:59 Filed in: Off-Site
TV Guide's Matt Roush answers a Moonlight Fan's
question in his Friday edition of Ask Matt:
"Question: As you can probably imagine, there's plenty of wailing and gnashing of teeth out here in Moonlight-land with CBS' list of 2008-'09 renewals published and no mention of Moonlight. The pickup of the four episodes for April gave us all cause for hope. Now we don't know what to think. What are your thoughts?— Lyn
Matt Roush: If Moonlight were really dead, CBS wouldn't have gone to the expense of putting the show back into production for just four more episodes. I'd take that as a sign to be cautiously optimistic that if the spring episodes show the same creative growth and fan momentum that Moonlight was exhibiting when the strike kicked in, then CBS will have little choice but to renew it. But I doubt we'll know for sure until the actual Upfronts in May."
Also, Kristin over at E! Online muses on the danger known as the "Death Slot" and includes Moonlight among the show that may be 'on the bubble' as far as renewal.

Moonlight To Finish Season Without Show-Runner
February/22/2008 03:43 Filed in: Off-Site
The Hollywood Reporter has
indicated that Moonlight will finish it's 4
episode run without a show-runner:
"Executive producer Joel Silver and the writing team of CBS' "Moonlight" collectively will shepherd the four additional episodes of the freshman drama as showrunner/executive producer Chip Johannessen has exited.
The vampire drama is not expected to name a new showrunner for the four-episode order but will do so if the series is picked up for a second season."

Moonlight's Show-Runner Let Go?
February/21/2008 14:48 Filed in: Off-Site
TV Guide's Michael Ausiello is reporting on
his blog that Chip Johanessen, Moonlight's
show-runner, has been fired. The entry reads:
"More backstage drama at Moonlight — and the timing couldn't be worse. I'm told that Chip Johannessen has been let go as show-runner just as the freshman drama is fighting for a second season. The search is on for a replacement.
This is the second major regime change for the cult fave; over the summer Johannessen replaced David Greenwalt, who vacated his post for health reasons.
The behind-the-scenes upheaval may explain why Moonlight was conspicuously absent from CBS' litany of renewals last week. It's unclear what impact this will have on the four post-strike episodes that the network just commissioned, which are slated to begin airing on April 11. But rest assured, when I know you'll know."

The Strike Is Over! More Moonlight?
February/13/2008 03:45 Filed in: Off-Site
The WGA has released a Press Release that reads, in
part:
"On Tuesday, members of the Writers Guilds East and West voted by a 92.5% margin to lift the restraining order that was invoked on November 5th. The strike is over.
Writing can resume immediately. If you were employed when the strike began, you should plan to report to work on Wednesday."
Rumors are now beginning to swirl that, despite what has previously been stated by members of the press, Moonlight may go back into production for an additional 4 or 5 episodes to round out the season.
Both Variety and TV Guide's Michael Ausiello are reporting that new episodes could be produced. Hopefully, some official clarification will be forthcoming soon.

As the owner of a fan site dedicated to a popular genre series like Moonlight, I receive a number of inquires about the series on a regular basis. Some are easy to satisfy but with others it’s best to go right to the source. So that’s what I did. Armed with questions from loyal users of The Blue Whale Pub (our discussion Forum), I recently had the chance to exchange them for answers from the extremely creative and generous Trevor Munson, creator of the character we now know as Mick St. John in the series Moonlight.
So, without further delay, read on as we jump right into this mini Q&A.
